John believes the photo was taken in 1945 at a celebration to mark the end of the Second World War. The location is the west end of Dick Crescent. The Angles family lived until 1939 in the first floor flat with the bay window which can be clearly seen in the photo; they then moved to 37 Dick Crescent. There are eight boys in the back row of the photo - the one on the left is Ian Gillespie (aged 14), then John Angles (13), and then Jimmy Ewan (14).
